In Switzerland, the version with a total weight of up to 250 kg can be ridden without a driving licence from the age of 16. For heavier models up to 450 kg, a category M driving licence is sufficient.In Germany, cargo e-bikes with assistance up to 25 km/h are legally considered bicycles - they can be ridden without a driving licence and by people of any age, as long as safe participation in road traffic is guaranteed.
